Buying Rims and Tires
Buying a new set of rims and tires for your car can greatly change the overall look of your vehicle. New rims can be quite pricey because they are generally made from high quality material and created with sophisticated machines. The designs are normally quite unique as well, and can sometimes be factored into the price. Because rims are expensive, it's important to do a bit of research to make sure you're getting a set that are beautiful and also extremely tough and durable. Here are a few things to consider when shopping for a new set of rims and wheels.
Selecting a Size
There is a great range of sizes for rims. You can find a new set that are anywhere from 15" up to huge spoked 26" rims. Most manufacturers set a limit on the size rims you can put on your car, so you will need to take this into consideration. For example, you wouldn't want to put 26" monsters on a little Honda Civic. Besides getting the right size, you will also need to ensure you get the right lug pattern. If you find a beautiful set of 17" alloy rims at a great price, it won't work if your car has a four-lug pattern and the rims have a five-lug pattern.
Viewing the Rims
Like anyone making a big purchase, you probably want to see what the rims will look like on your new car. However, this is usually not possible, especially if you plan to buy the rims online. There are a few options you can use to get a sense of how it will look though, so that you are not blindly purchasing the rims. The first option is to take a picture of your car and try to photoshop the rims onto your vehicle. If you are not savvy with photoshop, you could try checking out online websites that create the images for you. There are some sites that show you just how certain rims will look on different models so you can get a sense of how your vehicle will look.
Buying Tires
Once you have your rims you will need to fit a good set of tires to them. You won't want to skimp on the tires; instead, you will want to invest in a good set that will keep your car and rims running smoothly. The first most important factor is to get tires that are the right size. You cannot fit a pair of 15" tires to 17" rims. Next, you will want to consider all the factors of the tires' quality. Every tire is rated based on the type, width across the top, ratio of the sidewall to width, radial construction, diameter of the rim, load rating, speed rating and suitable all-season driving.
Buying new rims and tires online can seem a bit daunting, but when you do your research you will be able to find a really great set that will not only fit your car, but will look absolutely stunning.
